Abstract: (1 Views) |
| War and its devastating consequences profoundly affect not only the physical and psychological dimensions of human beings but also plunge the realms of spirituality and ethics into crisis. The bitter experiences stemming from violence, the loss of loved ones, forced displacement, and the need to make difficult ethical choices create a complex web of stressors that severely threaten mental health and spiritual well-being. In this context, moral psychology—a field that examines the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral processes behind ethical values and judgments—can play a pivotal role in fostering spiritual health and strengthening individual resilience amid the conditions of war. This intersection of disciplines opens new horizons for therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation in crises. Spiritual health is a fundamental component of holistic human well-being, and its importance is heightened during wartime. Individuals who lose a sense of life’s meaning, a connection to a value system, or a link to the transcendent dimension of existence become increasingly vulnerable to severe psychological trauma and behavioral disorders. Spiritual crises—such as a sense of meaninglessness, emptiness, disorientation, and a rupture from ethical beliefs—can exacerbate the psychological impact of war and pose significant obstacles to the process of psychological and social recovery. Consequently, addressing spiritual health alongside psychological and social dimensions is not merely an option but an imperative necessity. As both a theoretical and practical tool, moral psychology has the capacity to bridge the gap between ethics, spirituality, and psychological resilience. |
