Background and Aim: Domestic violence is a social problem with a long history in society, and due to its widespread impact, the pathology and treatment of this phenomenon have always been of interest to therapists. The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of spiritual therapy on the general self-efficacy and social competence of adolescents who have experienced domestic violence.
Methods: The present study was a semi-experimental pre-test-post-test study with a control group. The statistical population was all adolescent girls aged 14 to 18 years with experience of domestic violence who had a file in the social emergency room of Amol city in 2025. From the aforementioned population, 30 individuals were selected using the convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to either an experimental group (15 individuals) or a control group (15 individuals). Spiritual therapy, emphasizing the human connection with God, the true self, and the universe, offers a unique method for increasing life satisfaction and reducing psychological problems. It was implemented in 8 90-minute sessions, twice a week, for the experimental group, while the control group received no intervention. The Domestic Violence Exposure Questionnaire by Adelson et al. (2008), General Self-Efficacy by Scherer et al. (1982), and Social Competence by Parandin (2006) were used for assessment. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 24 software and the analysis of variance method.
Results: The results showed that spirituality therapy had a significant effect on general self-efficacy and social competence in adolescent girls with domestic violence experience in the post-test phase (P<0.001).
Conclusion: According to the results of this study, this type of therapy can be used to reduce psychological problems and increase general self-efficacy and social competence in adolescent girls with experience of domestic violence. |
